Privacy summary

Server storage: we do not intentionally store marking results or OCR output on our server.

Uploads: uploaded page images are stored temporarily only while the marking request is processed, then deleted after the AI result is produced.

Phone history: marking results may be saved locally on your phone so the app can show your history.

Ads: the app may show ads, and ad partners may process advertising-related signals.

1. Information processed

Uploaded images of student writing pages.
Essay setup details such as title, assignment context, class/year, language, max marks, strictness, and selected focus areas.
OCR text and word-position data extracted from uploaded images.
AI-assisted marking output, including spelling, grammar, content, and feedback sections.
Basic app, device, platform, and version information needed for app status and compatibility checks.

2. Temporary server processing

When you upload pages for marking, the backend stores those image files temporarily so it can run OCR and send the extracted content to an AI provider. After the marking result is produced, the temporary upload files are deleted. We do not use the server as a long-term storage system for student papers, OCR text, or marking results.

3. Local history on your phone

Markease may store marking results locally on your phone so you can revisit previous marking history inside the app. This local history is controlled by the app and your device. If you delete app data, uninstall the app, or use any in-app delete feature provided, local history may be removed.

4. How information is used

To extract text from uploaded writing pages.
To generate AI-assisted marking and feedback.
To show results and history inside the app.
To maintain app security, status checks, compatibility, and reliability.
To display or measure ads where advertising is enabled.

5. OCR and AI providers

Markease may send uploaded images, OCR text, assignment context, and related marking instructions to service providers such as Google Vision, OpenAI, or Google Gemini so they can perform OCR or AI-assisted marking. These providers process the data according to their own service terms and privacy policies.

6. Advertising

The app may include ads. Advertising partners may collect or receive device identifiers, approximate location, app interaction, ad impression, and measurement data depending on your device settings and the ad provider's privacy practices. You can usually limit ad tracking through your device settings.

7. Student privacy and school use

Markease is intended for teacher-led use. Please avoid uploading unnecessary personal information about students. If you use Markease in a school or tutoring environment, you are responsible for ensuring that your use complies with your organisation's policies and applicable privacy laws.

8. Security and retention

We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards for the backend processing flow. No method of electronic transmission or processing is perfectly secure. Temporary upload files are deleted after processing, while local app history remains on the user's device unless removed there.

You can choose not to upload images if you do not want them processed.
