Terms & Conditions
These terms explain how Markease may be used by teachers and other authorised users to upload student writing, run OCR and AI-assisted marking, and review results in the mobile app.
1. Acceptance of these terms
By downloading, accessing, or using Markease, you agree to these Terms & Conditions. If you use Markease on behalf of a school, tutoring centre, or other organisation, you confirm that you have authority to use the app for that organisation and to upload materials for marking.
2. What Markease does
Markease helps users upload pages of student writing, extract text with OCR, and generate structured AI-assisted marking output such as spelling, grammar, content comments, and feedback. The app is a teaching support tool, not a replacement for professional teacher judgement.
3. Your responsibilities
- Only upload student work that you are authorised to process.
- Review AI output before sharing it with students, parents, or colleagues.
- Do not upload unlawful, harmful, or unrelated content.
- Use Markease in line with your school policies and applicable privacy laws.
4. AI-assisted results
OCR and AI can make mistakes. Handwriting quality, image clarity, page order, prompt context, and AI model behaviour may affect the result. You are responsible for checking the final marking result and deciding how it should be used.
5. Uploads and temporary processing
Uploaded images are processed temporarily so Markease can perform OCR and request AI marking. We do not intentionally keep uploaded images, OCR text, or AI marking results on our server after the marking request is complete.
6. Local history on your device
Marking results may be stored locally on your phone so you can view history inside the app. You are responsible for protecting access to your device and for deleting local history if you no longer want it available there.
7. Third-party services
Markease may use third-party providers for OCR, AI processing, app distribution, crash diagnostics, hosting, and advertising. These providers process data only as needed to deliver their services to Markease or to you.
8. Advertising
The app may display advertising. Ad providers may receive device or ad-related signals to deliver, limit, measure, or improve ads according to their own terms and privacy practices.
9. Intellectual property
Markease, including its app design, software, branding, and related materials, belongs to us or our licensors. Student writing remains the responsibility of the user who uploads it and is processed only to provide the requested marking workflow.
10. Changes, suspension, and contact
We may update the app or these terms as the product develops. We may suspend access if the app is misused or if continued operation would create security, legal, or service risks. Questions can be sent to [email protected].
